Tubular heat exchangers are widely used in industries such as chemical, petroleum, and power generation. Their core principle is to separate two fluids at different temperatures via a solid wall (heat transfer tubes), achieving efficient heat transfer. Depending on their structure, they can be categorized as fixed tubesheet, floating head, and U-tube, suited to different operating conditions.

Working Principle
Tubular heat exchangers typically employ a dual-channel design: a "tube side" and a "shell side." High-temperature fluid flows through the tubes (the tube side), while low-temperature fluid flows through the tubes (the shell side) in either a countercurrent or parallel direction. Heat is transferred from the high-temperature side to the low-temperature side through the metal tube walls, achieving heat exchange. For example, in a heating system, high-temperature steam heats cold water within the tubes, outputting hot water for user consumption.

Working Process

Fluid Distribution: Hot and cold media enter the shell and tube sides, respectively.

Heat Transfer: Heat transfer occurs through the tube walls via conduction and convection.

Media Output: The cooled hot fluid and heated cold fluid are discharged separately.

Tubular heat exchangers have become indispensable energy-saving equipment in the industrial field due to their advantages such as simple structure, easy maintenance and high pressure resistance.
